I'm away on a Christmas Jolly but my master reporter at the game tells me that Birch put up a brave fight but were overcome by visitors Porth Harlequins by 3 tries to 1 and a 5 - 25 defeat in heavy conditions

Birch suffered from absences with two forwards in the back line but showed tremendous character and tenacity with the set piece performing well and an all round toe to toe never say die performance against the visitors.Good carrying from Leigh Di'uilio, Lewis Cox and Chris Gorvett making chances that failed with the final execution just falling short

Porth employed a good all round kicking game scoring 2 of their tries with the home side temporarily reduced in numbers.

Man of the Match candidates were Lewis Cox, Leigh Di'uilio and Aled Thomas.

The award goes to Aled Thomas playing on the wing for great defence and a tremendous turn of speed

By the sound of things no disgrace for the home side as we say goodbye to cup action and move on to the next league game at Ystradgynlais 30th December
