I was at a wedding today and unable to attend the game but had placed an un named apprentice ghost writer to cover what I understand was a scintillating contest despite the low score and he reports as follows :-
A packed out local derby saw Birch and Skewen play out an unusual 3-3 draw. Conditions were against both sides but that didn’t deter all the players giving 100% in a battle of contrition. Birch were up against it in the first half as Skewen’s youthful side got on top but sound defence kept the score to 3-0. The second half saw Birch scrum and power play get on top and eventually level the scores up at 3-3 ! Great credit must go to Birch pack after playing 50 plus minutes with 7 men ! A thoroughly deserved draw and a game most supporters won’t forget!! Even the old timers can’t have witnessed many 3-3 draws
Candidates for Man of the Match were :-
Leigh Di’uilio
Josh Key
Jake Randall
MOM and Congratulations goes to Jake Randall
