Although unable to get to the game today it seems to have been a bit of a thriller at Abercrave. The home side were quick to open their account with a drop goal minutes after the start before a try from Luke Beynon converted by Ricky Rosser was cancelled out by a home try giving Abercrave a creditable 10 – 7 early lead. Birchgrove added a penalty through Lee Harris before Abercrave went on a bit of a rampage to build up a 23 – 10 lead.
The visitors showed great spirit though to hit back in a huge second half effort with tries from Dai Cullen, Adam Percival and a conversion from Lee Harris to leave the game on a knife edge at 23 -22 and although Birch continued to knock on the door they were unable to get over the line for the winning score.
A bit of a setback but still holding second place in the league and the losing bonus could still be a powerful factor in the final analysis. So Swansea Upland up next at home next Saturday and a great chance to get back on track.
Good to see Adam Percival get over for his first try of the season and also see evergreen 3 Try Dai Cullen giving the “pretty boy” backs a run for their money in the scoring stakes !!
